Van is one of the best cities in Texas for families and individuals who enjoy outdoor activities! We currently have three (3) parks and with each one offering different amenities and we feel confident there is something for everyone to enjoy! We have picnic areas, walking trails, a disc golf course, a lake with a kayak launch, splash pad, skate park, playgrounds and a museum. Van City Park - 301 Wyoming St. Covered pavilion and picnic tables offer a place to relax and enjoy the park. This park includes a colorful splash pad, green space for football, corn hole, or frisbee, a great playground area with a swing set and a skate park. This park has a water fountain and clean restrooms.
This park hosts the annual event Van Oil Festival. The Oil Festival is the 3rd Saturday of October, and is a family fun event that celebrates the history of Van.
McMillan Park - 712 E Main St. A beautiful 39 acre park that includes a lake with a kayak launch and a walking trail around it. This park has a state of the art 9-hole disc golf course and a playground area with a covered pavilion. Plenty of green space for ball activities or frisbee. This park has a water fountain and clean restrooms.
This park hosts our annual event FREEDOM BOOM. Freedom Boom is our Independence Day Celebration held on the last Saturday in June. It's a FREE family fun event that includes shopping, food vendors, bounce houses, live music, and an awesome fireworks display over the lake choreographed to music!
Sports Complex - 310 Chestnut St. This park has been in the City of Van many years and evokes lots of memories. This facility is predominately for athletics. With baseball fields, soccer fields, a walking trail, a concession stand, covered picnic tables, and a small shaded playground area. This park has a water fountain and clean restrooms.
This park hosts our City sports events as well as some district and state tournaments!
